CHART/NRAEF Scholarship
CHART and the National Restaurant Association Educational Foundation's (NRAEF) ProStart® program present a $2,500 joint scholarship each year to a ProStart high school student entering college with the goal to work in the restaurant and foodservice industry. The Award is presented at CHART's Commitment to People Awards Gala in August, the final evening of CHART's semi-annual hospitality training conference.
ProStart is a program created by the National Restaurant Association Educational Foundation. Through ProStart, high school students who have an interest in a career in the restaurant or foodservice field are provided the opportunity to take ProStart along with their regular academic schedule. In addition, they must also work a minimum of 400 hours in a restaurant foodservice establishment during the two-year-long program. Through the program, teachers and mentors strive to introduce students to the wonderful careers available in the industry.
CHART sponsors the scholarship to support enthusiastic and dedicated ProStart students who want to further their education in the industry, and the scholarship is one way CHART supports the development of our future workforce. The joint scholarship by CHART and the NRAEF reflects our similar goals of educating and training the foodservice industry.
