Inject Fun into Training for Today's Learner

When writing training materials (e-learning, manuals, job aids, posters etc.) you don’t have to be strictly practical. It is ok to inject some fun, interactive elements throughout your training program.
I like blended learning so people can read, write their own notes, look at pictures, and learn at their own pace and style.
When designing learning, here are few key points to make it fun and relate to the learner:
- Pictures speak more than words! Use pictures to demonstrate what you are trying to teach. With today's technology you can take your own pictures and modify them for your needs.
- 3-4 bullet points per slide (if e-learning). Simple words – get straight to the point and let the picture do the teaching!
- Have some fun – use memes, #hashtags, pictures that are funny but relate to the topic.
Example 1: You are creating a course for the Back of the House and your main point is to make sure the food is so perfect it is Instagramable. Your slide/material could look like this:
Example 2: You are teaching people the importance of clocking in and out. Your slide/material could look like this:
Today’s learner will appreciate your efforts!
