Associate Instructional Designer

Job Description



Under guidance, the Associate Instructional Designer is responsible for the effective analysis, design, and development of training solutions that drive measurable performance improvement. The Associate Instructional Designer will work closely with the Learning and Development team to analyze project needs and develop customized learning solutions.


Key Accountabilities


Learning Analysis

  • With guidance, conduct Learning Needs Analysis for Learning and Development projects.

  • Work closely with the field to support and understand challenges and create learning solutions to make their job functions easier.


Learning Design & Development

  • With guidance, design and develop learning solutions including but not limited to; digital learning, instructor-led learning, and blended learning.

  • Create learning solutions that support successful transfer of knowledge and application to improve job performance.

  • Develop and implement style guideline and design document standards to ensure consistency across projects.


Learning Implementation

  • Work with the Operations Excellence Team to effectively implement and communicate learning solutions.


Learning Evaluation

  • With guidance, design assessments and review metrics to evaluate effectiveness of learning solutions.

  • Analyze metrics and take corrective action when necessary.


Project Management

  • Identify and communicate project timelines, milestone tasks, and progress through project completion.

  • Act as the SME for Instructional Design.


Learning Management System

  • With guidance, work with the Workday team on system configuration, capability, and limitation.

  • Review and respond to ServiceNow tickets within one business day.

  • Manage LMS hosted content to ensure it is relevant, current, and aligned with Red Robin standards.


Job Requirements



Someone who is successful in this position will have:

  • 1-3 years' experience in developing training solutions for deskless workers preferred

  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred  

  • Experience with design tools such as Articulate 360, Vyond, and Adobe Creative Cloud

  • Experience with Workday Learning preferred 

  • Expertise with Microsoft Office products 

  • Ability to spend time in restaurant when needed

  • Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously; can plan, meet deadlines, and manage competing priorities

  • Ability to effectively build and manage processes, tools and systems

  • Ability to translate ideas into clear written and visual materials/communication

  • Excellent oral and written English communication skills

  • Experience in the food service or restaurant industry a nice to have

  • Strong attention to detail

  • Strong organizational skills

  • Strong analytical and systems skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Education, Behavioral Sciences, Instructional Design, or Industrial/Organizational psychology preferred
