The Visionary Trainer

I have a CHART logo compact mirror with “Visionary Trainer” written across it. It was an Atlanta conference gift. While using it the other day, I thought about what it means to be a visionary trainer or leader. It involves having a vision, being accountable for executing said vision, creating engagement with others around the vision, and commitment to carry out the vision.

As the newest CHART President, I would like to share one vision I have for CHART this upcoming year. My focus this year is on our educational strategy to further CHART’s position as a leader in the industry in hospitality training innovation and transormation. My vision is to better align our core competencies with our conference programming. This means balancing our inspiring and fun keynote speakers with breakouts that tie directly in with our competency tracks. Monique Donahue, our Board-appointed Education Strategist, and her team of subject matter experts have done an amazing job reworking the competencies. They have taken them to the next level in content and added additional capstone courses.

Your Board and I will be accountable for vetting speaker and breakout proposals to ensure they align with our educational strategy. We plan to reach out to current and new members to engage them in teaching the revised competencies with the support of our veteran presenters through a new train-the-trainer program. We are committed to carrying out this vision, and believe in the value this brings to our members, to our organization, and everyone who attends a conference.

On page one of this flipCHART, you can see the competency presenters who have already stepped up and said “I can do that!” If you are interested in co-presenting a competency in San Antonio, please reach out to me. I would love to talk to you.

And the next time you look in a mirror, remind yourself that the Visionary Trainer is YOU!
