This Pride Month, Try To Be the Rainbow in Someone's Cloud

"Try to be the rainbow in someone’s cloud." You may assume the reason I chose this quote by Dr. Maya Angelou is because the rainbow Is a symbol for Pride month…that is partially true.
Rainbows are universal symbols of hope, love, happiness, and acceptance. As training leaders we focus day to day on operations and development programs and thinking about how to impart hope, love, happiness, and acceptance in the learning environment may not be top of mind—although these are actually our end goal.
Hope – defined as a feeling of expectation and desire for a certain thing to happen, we hope our training programs are effective and creates the intended behavior change.
Love – passion for development of others and improvements in operations execution motivate us to solve the hard puzzles.
Happiness – the hospitality business affords us the opportunity to provide training resources to front line employees which will aid in our customers receiving a perfectly served, long awaited LTO, catered family gathering or business celebration, or a great night's sleep in a comfortable hotel room at the end of a long travel day.
Acceptance – as facilitators of adult learning programs, EVERYONE is considered in the audience, and our goal is to connect with each learner whether the training is delivered in an asynchronous program, live virtual training, or in-person event.
So, when you find yourself in need of a reminder regarding your purpose as a training leader, look up in the sky for a rainbow (or imagine that one is there), be hopeful, show love, find happiness, and lead with acceptance.
