Trainers Transforming Training: The Super Power T3

I am back, rested and ready to implement new learning from CHART’s 85th Hospitality Training Conference.  This year was extra special as it was the launch of a new learning platform called T3 which is competency based training with four tracks of learning for trainers, training managers, instructional designers and training executives.  I enjoyed connecting with those who attended (and for those I missed, hope to see you soon).

T3 was a great success, that contained excellent keynote speakers and competency based workshops that were full of powerful content and well delivered by the CHART fan-favorite facilitators.

Talent Anarchy kept our attention teaching us how to harness the resources that are within our personal and professional networks to achieve more both personally and professionally.  As we know from our experiences with CHART, we are all inter-connected and relationship building is oh, so important for our professional development.

During Robin Getman’s keynote- it was clear that she had spent the better part of previous days checking out competency sessions and speaking with attendees.  Her talk felt customized to our group and she succeeded in making sure the session was full of laughter.

One of the many things I love about CHART is the service event we participate in at each conference.  This year, members volunteered their time at the New Roots Community Farm to help over 80 families by picking and pruning at the farming space.

At the resource gallery, I learned about companies providing support to training departments through their services or products.

Everywhere I turned, there were branding sessions happening all over the place thanks to Legacy Productions.

Then, there are the intangibles, the unique opportunity to learn and network outside of the sessions (oh, the ever famous hospitality suite) and CHART-led activities.   I was pleased to see many conversations leaning towards mobile learning platforms, up and coming training technologies and ways to engage our learners outside the classroom.

This conference was extra special for me as I had the pleasure and incredible opportunity to lead the San Diego conference team as the Conference Director.  The team was incredible! And on top of that, I got to share in the joy and excitement of a first time attendee whom I work with at Wood Ranch BBQ & Grill.  We all know what the first time feels like (remember yours? Keep it clean!), the surge of new knowledge, skill and tools and the overwhelming list of things one wants to implement when returning back to the office.

The conference was full of actionable content, industry insight and opportunity to connect with our training and hospitality community.  A big thank you to CHART and its membership for always being there to re-energize me, give me new tools to improve my workplace performance and keep me connected to what matters most in training.
