Training Manager - New Restaurant Opening - Front of House (Field Based)

Job Description

The New Restaurant Opening (NRO) FOH Training Manager for is responsible for overseeing the entire Front-of-the-House (FOH) training process for New Restaurant Openings.  This includes recruiting, developing, and retaining FOH Coaches; partnering with the Regional Manager, and Management Team on FOH setup; establishing FOH training systems & standards for current and future FOH new hires; working with Managers through the entire new Team Member hiring process, restaurant set-up, and day-to-day operations to ensure we are providing the best service experience to all our Guests.  The FOH Training Manager is responsible for adhering to and coaching all MAH safety & sanitation standards. The FOH Training Manager for NRO’s works in partnership with the BOH NRO Training Manager, DVP, RM and Management Team to ensure that pre-opening expenses are in line with the budget and the opening runs smoothly.

 

 

People (Guests, Staff, Vendors, Management)

·       Ability to prioritize work, remain flexible, positive, and calm in an environment amidst a constantly changing environment

·       Recruits, develops, coaches, and retains top talent NRO Coaches

·       Assists NRO’s Kitchen/FOH Manager to oversee and supporting the training of new FOH Team Members

·       Strategically plans to build FOH NRO bench strength to support 12+ openings a year

·       Maintains high Coach and Team Member morale during the NRO

·       Provides positive and constructive feedback to FOH Coaches and Management Team during the NRO

·       Effectively partners & communicates with Director of New Restaurant Openings, NRO BOH Manager, Sr. Director of Training, DVP, RM and Management team for each NRO

·       Effectively maximizes relationship with the Director of New Restaurant Openings to establish timely, consistent, and complete support from other RSC departments (Purchasing, IT, etc.) for the FOH

·       Partners with the restaurant General Manager on all NRO Checklist items

·       Partners with NRO Management Team to select and train in-store Coaches

·       Adheres to all Miller’s Ale House policies and programs and outlined in the Team Member and Management handbooks

·       Ensures a safe and service-oriented environment for Team Members and Guests

·       Is personally knowledgeable and can successfully train others on how to utilize MAH’s third-party software platforms; i.e. Learning Management System (LMS), Point-of-Sale (POS) and restaurant back office systems, etc.

 

Guest Experience & Expectations

·       Adheres to and coaches all Team Members to uphold proper food handling & sanitation processes

·       Coordinates with all department leaders to ensure a smooth opening

·       Ensures FOH Team Members are proficient at their role prior to departing the assigned opening

·       Present a professional image to Team Members, Guests, and vendors

·       Assists Management Team with initial new restaurant setup – including but not limited to: dining room, bar areas, service areas, front door area, etc.

·       Assists NRO team with material & system updates and edits to ensure training is efficient, relevant, current, & replicable

·       Always maintains a positive and professional leadership presence

·       Assesses proper uniform standards of NRO Coaching Team everyday

Sales and Profits

·       Management of overall FOH Training Team targeted labor cost for the opening

·       Manages and accountable for the FOH pre-opening expense training budget

·       Assists Management Team and Coaches with setup of production & inventory process using systems such as Crunchtime to focus on cost control

·       Ensures a safe work environment for Team Members and Guests

 

 



Job Requirements


Required Skills & Education

·       Strong decision-making and leadership behaviors coupled with the technical skill set to drive the business forward

·       Proven track record of making high quality decisions and the ability to make complex decisions

·       Proven track record of managerial success in a fast paced environment by possessing the experience, ability, and knowledge to operate a financially successful operation while focusing on human capital

·       Must possess strong communication and listening skills as well as excellent speaking, reading and writing skills

·       High-level of knowledge & standards around MAH FOH systems and process

·       Comprehend and use technical or professional language, either written or spoken, to communicate effectively

·       Fluency in English is required; multiple language abilities a plus

·       Adherence to health, safety, food safety, and alcohol consumption regulations

·       Manager Food Safety Certification (where required)

·       Ability to prioritize work and be flexible in a fast-paced, changing environment

·       Strong coaching skills – comfortable providing feedback at all levels of the organization

·       Head Coach experience preferred

·       Ability to travel for a minimum of six weeks at a time
