Two College Students Awarded $5,000 to Pursue their Hospitality Studies from CHART, NRAEF, & AHLEI

WESTFIELD, NJ, August 6, 2020 – The Council of Hotel and Restaurant Trainers (CHART) is pleased to announce that once again this year, CHART, the National Restaurant Association Educational Foundation (NRAEF), and the American Hotel and Lodging Educational Institute have awarded a $5,000 scholarship to two promising hospitality college students. The students were recognized  during CHART’s 50th Anniversary Virtual Celebration, which took place on Wednesday, July 29, 2020.

More than 120 CHART members and guests were present on a live virtual event to watch these two students receive their awards:

When asked about what number one characteristic in hospitality demonstrates expertise in customer service, Christina said, “Respect. When you respect yourself, your coworkers, your customers, and anyone else that you may encounter, it comes through in your work. I believe that by respecting myself and my work, I am able to continue to set myself up for success. Everything else, such as speed, efficiency, and skill will come with time.”

Eliezer believes that, “Sympathy is the most important characteristic in customer service expertise. Sympathy stems from the love one has for their fellow man. Sympathy is more than just making people content; it’s about making people genuinely happy. These memories are things that stay with guests for the rest of their lives and they’ll think about that experience and that individual who helped them. I see the good in people.”

Each year, CHART, NRAEF, and AHLEI present a $5,000 scholarship to two current college students that have chosen hospitality as their major.
